My solo is ~3000, and party ~3300. My “high level” comes from having battle bonus on pretty often. So I play a lot of Dota, but I’m not very good!I’ve been playing Dota since September 2, 2012, where I fed hard as Nightstalker. So I never played original Dota and I was not around for TI2.

I record my videos using Open Broadcaster Software (OBS), which is insanely easy to use and very good in my opinion.
My mouse is ZALMAN ZM-M400 Black 6 Buttons 1 x Wheel USB Wired Optical 1600 dpi Gaming Mouse, headphones are DOTA 2 STEELSERIES SIBERIA HEADSET V2, and microphone is Audio-Technica AT2020 USB Condenser USB Microphone.
My Channel and Unboxings
I’m a totally independent operation – I fund my unboxings myself through a combination of my own money, trading/Steam market stuff that I do from time to time, and ad revenue from my channel. I don’t have kids or anything, so I can afford to spend a little bit on the game that I play all the time.Why unbox if I don't think I'm going to get a good return? Three reasons, all of them pretty good.
1. It's fun. I enjoy it, even when I don't get lucky : ).
2. Money goes to Valve. I spend a lot of my free time playing Dota, so I'm happy to pay them for it.
3. I can share the video. If I wasn't on Youtube, I might open new chests, but definitely not the night they come out! Posting the information and the experience is the reason I open chests even when it's a terrible idea to do so <3.
Personal Life
Yes – I have one! I’m a mechanical engineer working at a high-tech adhesives company doing R&D. My job rocks. I live in Pennsylvania with my fiance “Blatant” and my two cats, Allagash and Zergling. I paint (oil paintings) and make pottery when I have the time/resources and I like to watch goofy anime cartoons.

I usually play with an awesome 5-stack (we have 8-10 people that we typically play with, and it's rare that at least 3 of them aren't on), so I don't usually have the pub experience any more. When I do, I occasionally get "hawwwt give your number baby" or "uninstall fucking girl," but I just ignore the cat callers and mute the haters. I'll admit that during solo ranked I wait until people sound friendly before speaking on mic because the bullshit can be a distraction to everyone and I want to win... I wish I didn't feel like that was necessary. My hope is that one day it won't be! So glad to hear from you and I hope you don't get discouraged. Keep your head high and play your own game - best way to spite the assholes.

And when I TRY to study, I'm like 'fuck this man, lets play dota again' (haha!). I wonder how you could manage both :D

It really helped that as a grad student, I basically went to the lab to work like it was my job. I also have always enjoyed school work, so it wasn't too hard to convince myself to get it done, especially problem sets <3. Love those.
DeleteIf you're doing computer work, go to a public computer lab where they don't have games or other distractions, put some music on your headphones, and focus for a set amount of time (it doesn't even have to be long, as long as you actually focus). For paperwork, go get a coffee, go to the library. Just get away from your desk where you play Dota. Just keep in mind the lovely money you will make when you graduate if you do your work!

ReplyDeleteSup fafa_noob! I haven't spent THAT much money on Dota, but the truth is, I haven't particularly kept track :). If you count my trip to TI4, I guess a lot. I'm not sure what you mean by monthly payoff funds? My work salary is more than enough to comfortably cover my personal expenses - I don't spend a lot of money on going out or clothes or cars or other things that a lot of people spend money on. No kids no worries! If you mean revenue from my Youtube channel, that doesn't make a huge difference except for the fact that it's completely extra, so I feel totally ok with spending all of it on unboxings/giveaways.

Hi Scott, I cannot give items to anyone on request for any reason. I get many requests for "extra items" and there would never be a fair way to decide whether or what to give any person. I can only wish you the best of luck - nice thing about Dota is it's free to play, so if you just want to go back to playing, there's nothing stopping you!
